Prof. Romano receives the students before and after the lectures or upon appointment.
Valerio Cosimo Romano (Bari, 1986) is Adjunct Professor of Competition Law at LUMSA and of Principles of Civil Law at LUISS Guido Carli, and a Research Fellow at the LUISS Law & Economics LAB. He practices law at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.
Valerio holds a Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza from LUMSA (with full marks and honours), an LL.M. from the University of Hamburg (Germany), an LL.M. from the University of Rotterdam (the Netherlands), a M.A. from the University of Gent (Belgium)and a Ph.D. in Law and Economics from LUISS Guido Carli (Italy). He spent a year as Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School (USA) and two years as Research Fellow of the Transatlantic Technology Law Forum at Stanford Law School. He has also held positions as Research Assistant at Harvard Law School for Prof. H. Spamann and LUISS Guido Carli for Prof. Roberto Pardolesi. At LUISS he has also been a Teaching Assistant in Private Law; Markets, Regulations and Law; Law and Economics and Comparative Law. He also served as Graduate Assistant in Public International Law at Università degli Studi della Tuscia and acted as counsel and ad-hoc clerk in ICC, CAS/TAS, CAM, AIA proceedings.
In parallel to his academic engagements, Valerio has also developed a professional career in law. Before joining his current firm, NYC-based Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, he has been an associate at the UK-based law firm Allen & Overy LLP, for which he has been listed in Chambers Europe 2016 as “notable practitioner” and “key contact” of the Antitrust department in Italy. In 2017, his team won the TMT Law Firm of the Year Award at the Legalcommunity Awards in Milan.
