Nell’ambito della mia attività di ricerca, dopo aver conseguito conoscenze teoriche e competenze metodologiche nell’ambito della psicofisiologia sperimentale e delle neuroscienze cognitive, ho studiato gli effetti comportamentali e corticali, in termini di neuroplasticità, indotti dalle tecniche di stimolazione cerebrale non invasiva (NIBS) su differenti aree corticali, in diverse fasi dell’invecchiamento sano e patologico e in patologie neurologiche e psichiatriche. Il mio interesse è sempre stato focalizzato sulla possibilità di individuare marcatori corticali (attraverso lo studio dell’EEG e dei potenziali evento relati-ERP) di funzioni cognitive e motorie al fine di comprendere i meccanismi neurofisiologici sottostanti. Negli ultimi anni ho focalizzato la mia attività di ricerca sull'applicazione combinata della stimolazione magnetica transcranica (TMS) durante le registrazioni elettroencefalografiche (TMS-EEG). Attualmente sono impegnata nello studio delle modificazioni comportamentali e neurofisiologiche (attività-EEG, reattività-ERP, connettività corticale-Coherence, eccitabilità corticospinale-MEP) indotte da innovativi protocolli di neuromodulazione in soggetti giovani ed anziani sani, nella valutazione sia degli effetti indotti da interventi neuroriabilitativi/farmacologici che dei cambiamenti osservati longitudinalmente in malattie neurologiche/psichiatriche e neurodegenerative.
