Scholarships for International and Italian students living abroad: Call for applications 2019-2020

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) issued a call for applications to award scholarships to International and Italian students residing abroad for the academic year 2019-2020.

Only students with the following requirements may apply:

  • Age: Candidates aged 28 years or younger at the time this call for applications expires (30th May 2019) may apply for master's degree scholarships, except for renewals. Candidates aged up to 30 years at the time this call for applications expires (30th May 2019) may apply for PhD scholarships, with the exception of renewals.
  • Language: Candidates enrolling in courses delivered in Italian are required to submit their application with an at least intermediate (B2) Italian proficiency certificate as per the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Candidates enrolling in courses delivered in English are required to submit their application with an intermediate (B2) or higher English proficiency certificate as per the CEFR. Knowledge of the Italian language is not required for university courses entirely delivered in English.
The duration of scholarships for International and Italian students residing abroad may vary, depending on the courses.
  • Scholarships for degree courses may last 6 or 9 months. Before enrolling in the first year of a second-cycle degree course in Italy, candidates must complete their first-cycle degree course (bachelor’s degree corresponding to a three-year Italian degree) in their country of origin. Candidates must have passed all the exams of the previous year before enrolling in their second year.
  • PhD Scholarships may last 6 or 9 months. Candidates must hold the qualifications required by the chosen institution and a letter of acceptance of the Italian University if they intend to enrol in a PhD programme in Italy.

The MAECI initiative is particularly interesting for International students who intend to enrol in degree and PhD courses in 2019-2020 and especially in courses delivered in English (for which Italian proficiency is not required), such as Management and Finance, Marketing & Digital Communication, International Relations and the international PhD programme in Contemporary Humanism.

Online applications must be submitted by 2pm (Italian time), May 30th 2019.
