Italian fiscal code

The tax code is a personal number of identification which has to be presented at any request in Italy. It can be used for example:

  • To be registered in the Italian public health system (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale, SSN);
  • To open a bank account;
  • To obtain an Italian SIM card

Professors and Students can request the Italian fiscal code through the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence already before the arrival in Italy.
In all cases, the Italian fiscal code can also be obtained at the arrival in Italy by requesting it at the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) located in Rome. The closest Revenue Agency office to LUMSA is located in Via Ippolito Nievo, 36.
