Deans and Rectors

The University dates back to 26 October 1939, and was originally designated the Istituto Superiore Pareggiato di Magistero Maria Ss. Assunta institute of higher education. The Institute at this time was headed by a Dean, but since it became LUMSA in 1989, the highest position in the University has been the Rector.

  • 1939 - 1954: Giuseppe Cardinali;
  • 1954 - 1956: Cornelio Fabro;
  • 1956 - 1971: Ferdinando Milone;
  • 1971 - 1989: Giorgio Petrocchi.

Rectors of LUMSA

  • 1989 - 1991: Armando Rigobello;
  • 1991 - 2014: Giuseppe Dalla Torre;
  • 2014 - Present: Francesco Bonini.
